Digital artist Alexa Sirbu’s talk will be a reflection on her journey – the key moments, ideas and tools that led her to work in 3D. She will touch upon the importance of personal work and how that has shaped the commercial practice she co-runs today while diving into some of her favourite projects from over the years.
Alexa Sirbu is an artist, director and co-founder of XK Studio, based in London. The focus of her practice is to explore the relationship between the natural and the artificial by reimagining the subjects of nature, art and fashion through digital technologies.
By combining a handcrafted approach with a diverse array of procedural and simulation techniques she creates work that is tactile and intricate, imbued with emotion and mesmerizing energy.
Both as an artist and through her studio, she has created and directed work that ranges from artistic commissions to commercial campaigns, films and large scale video installations and has collaborated with cultural institutions such as House of Culture Stockholm, London Symphony Orchestra and leading brands such as Microsoft, Nike, Timberland, Durex and Velcro.
