Gain insight into the ancient art of letterpress printing

This workshop will give you an insight into the ancient art of letterpress printing. Printing will be done on a toggle press from 1848, with existing or your own printing plates. You can try your hand at setting up the press, mixing the ink, inking the printing plate and printing.

The Schusterjunge is a letterpress printer with a passion and love for the real craft. Anyone who understands quality will also understand his enthusiasm for the many different types of paper and the old Heidelberg platen presses. With a great deal of craftsmanship, what is probably the most famous printing press still conjures up unique works of art – elegant business cards, the finest stationery or extraordinary invitations.

The profession of letterpress printer has almost died out in the meantime, Joachim still learned it. The apprenticeship and later training at the Graphic have awakened his passion for the old machines. In 2015, the Schusterjunge opened his own workshop and over the past few years, the young master and the old machine have grown close.

Attendance also possible without a festival ticket.

The Workshop will be held in German.

The workshop will be on:
