On Friday, September 6th, the city of Kiel announced that Cihan Tamti had been selected as the winner of this year’s design competition for Kiel Week 2025. The Bochum-based designer impressed the jury with his work, securing first place among 12 other nominated entries.

According to the jury, what stood out the most was how Tamti managed to create a remarkable “close-up and distant effect” in his design. Since sailing plays a significant role in Kiel Week, water is a central element in the design. From afar, the complex details merge together, resembling the reflections on a water surface. If you take a closer look, one can recognize typical elements of Kiel Week, such as musical notes and boat keels.
