Frustrated by the current set of emojis available, New York design studio & Walsh created emojis suitable for the design industry, picturing the Zeitgeist of 2020. Developed earlier the year, at the end of 2020 they are more up to date than ever.

Who doesn´t know the feeling of looking for one specific emoji when texting? Since emojis are as much part of our everyday communication as characters, probably a lot of you can relate. Thank God the prestigious design studio & Walsh captioned the mood within the creative scene – which definitely is a special one during the corona pandemic – and created a set of emojis. Working from home, staring at the screen more than usual, as well as social distancing bawled for some extra kind of entertainment.

The team around Forward Festival speaker Jessica Walsh developed unique emojis. A tote bag with “Graphic design is my passion”, a symbol relating to Adobe After Effects that says “Stressed AF” or legends of the industry just as Walsh herself, Stefan Sagmeister, or Paula Scher are amongst the emoji set. While creating, the team realized how much artfulness the emoji design actually is.

The whole team was involved in the process, starting from the initial idea until the design. “Emojis have their own language and we are more than happy to have added some new vocabulary”, says producer Bosbinda Vizarretea. Available for channels such as WhatsApp, Email, and Slack, the emojis are here to make communication more fun. Download your set here!
