The fascination of GMUNK
Bradley G. Munkowitz aka GMUNK is no one less than an industry legend. With 20 years of creative experience, the visual design director has always been at the forefront of innovative digital design and pushing the boundaries of multidisciplinary art.
Think digital motion visuals that catch your eye, fascinate and have an almost hypnotic virtue. You have seen them in spots for brands like Nike, Maserati, or Audi – GMUNK is the mastermind behind outstanding motion designs. He is a visionary whose creativity and innovation span a diverse range of mediums and has established himself as one of the top visual design directors in the world.
What makes his signature style remarkable and himself an important part of the ever-changing design field is his utilization of a fusion of psychedelic themes and richly textured palettes. GMUNK himself describes his style as enigmatic, atmospheric, and metaphysical.
20 years of the creative lifestyle sure is a long time to always keep on pushing forward. The Munky has developed a recipe in order to stay inspired: His ethos is driven by his desire to always learn, be uncomfortable, be open to new collaborations – and to always expect the unexpected. This approach to creating has made GMUNK one of the most innovative art directors globally as his concepts dig below the surface and always have a very special storyline.
One of GMUNK’s latest and probably one of the most prestigious projects is the film “Spark the Next” for luxoury brand Maserati. The concept for the film couldn’t have been more GMUNK-like: It’s about honoring the past while evolving into the future, about the duality of past and future, tradition and innovation, which also is also reflected in the content creation. Rather than relying on CG execution completely, GMUNK captured the spontanous, playful nature of real sparks in a practical shoot. Watch the film for a wow-effect:
