With his unusual and sometimes grotesque photographs, Martin Parr has managed to show us the world from his point of view and has become a chronicler of our age. Martin Parr´s finest is currently shown in an online exhibition by Janet Borden Inc. to brighten up our lockdown days until his talk at the Forward Online Festival.
While the flood of images we are exposed to every day constantly increases, our attention span decreases. The solution? Unique, edgy, and remarkable pictures. A solution, the British photographer Martin Parr has been working on for over five decades. Battling the ever-growing image flood, Parr uses humor, seduction, and criticism. The result: His images are unusual, appear to be strange, but most importantly – they stick to our memory.
During his long career, Martin Parr has received numerous awards and has published dozens of books, the latest one visualizing Ireland over the past four decades. “From The Pope To A Flat White” reveals the dramatic change of the country, starting with black-and-white photography documenting the Pope´s visit in 1979. As time passes by, Martin Parr photographs McDonald´s drive-throughs and ends his opus with gay weddings, gentrification, and start-up companies in 2019.
Times may be changing, but Martin Parr stays true to his unique style. With his photos, he provokes us to see things in a different way and encourages us to do so with his online exhibition by Janet Borden Inc. Gallery.
Use the chance to check it out and get hyped for Martin Parr´s talk at the Forward Online Festival this March!
