Jonathan Castro: Blending Realities through Multidisciplinary Art and Soundscapes

Jonathan Castro Alejos is a Peruvian graphic designer and multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam who works with sound, video, installation, and performance. His explorative-based practice oscillates between the real and the fictitious, assembling and reassembling collected raw materials embedded with different qualities and identities to reconstruct them into surfaces, objects, visual languages, and soundscapes.

His work has been exhibited internationally, most recently at Haus der Statistik, Van Gogh Museum, Mayrit Bienal, KV Leipzig, Crone Gallery, Vitrine Gallery, Ssense Montreal, and Nike House of Innovation-Shanghai.

He collaborated with many artists and record labels in the electronic and experimental fields. As a freelancer, he worked with studios such as Metahaven, Bureau Borsche, and Studio Dumbar. In 2019 he was an artist in residence at Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, NL. He has recently joined AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) and holds an MFA at Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam.

Jonathan will speak at the Forward Festival Amsterdam in May. Next to him, you will be able to hear Creatives like Studio Feixen, Eva Cremers and many more.
