We can barely believe it ourselves, but this is the 8th year that we will inspire you during our Forward Festivals! For this year’s theme “Connect, Create, Collaborate” we curated an amazing line-up with over 50 speakers coming to Berlin and Vienna!

Forward Berlin will be taking place from September 22nd – 23rd at Kino International. For Forward Vienna we will be from October 6th-7th at the Gartenbaukino.

Inspiration and Networking as leading motif.

Inspiration is our main focus. For 8 years now, we have been the most important hotspot for the creative industries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland that feature international creative legends alongside quickly rising shooting stars across many different creative disciplines. You will find graphic design, typography and animation next to advertising and creative entrepreneurship over photography and film. As a platform, Forward stands for a broad cooperation between the different disciplines and connects the often diversified creative industry.

Like the years before, in 2022, our founder and curator Othmar Handl wants to keep up with providing inspiration and exchange, and in Berlin we are taking the next logical step: “After our very successful premiere, we will expand to two program days and also to two stages this year. We are moving to Kino International for this, which offers us even more possibilities. At our home base in Vienna, we will, as usual, transform the city’s largest cinema hall in the Gartenbaukino into a mecca of creativity for two days.”

From A like Ada Sokół to W like Wade & Leta

As always, the program is full of highlights for every taste: from international heavyweights to local heroines of the creative industries, graphic design icon Eike König, creative duo Wade & Leta, Queen-of-AR Johanna Jaskowska, 3D superstar Ada Sokól, crafting expert Kelli Anderson, the creative geniuses of Deutsche & Japaner, one-of-a-kind photographer Boogie, visual multi-talent Alice Isaac and many more will be holding the microphone.

The cinema as an ideal place for condensed creativity

Kino International is not only one of Berlin’s most important cinemas, it is also one of the architectural crown jewels of the reunited city. Today, as a listed cinema monument, it is just as famous worldwide as it is as a major premiere house and regularly provides the setting for great moments in film history. Tilda Swinton, Steven Spielberg, Barry Jenkins, Taika Waititi, Spike Lee and many other outstanding filmmakers and creatives have already been guests here to present their films to the public for the first time.

2022 Forward joins the list of unforgettable creative moments of Kino International and offers the speakers the perfect stage and the visitors a unique atmosphere with many side events.

The Viennese venue, the Gartenbaukino, needs no big announcement, as it has been an integral part of the Forward Festival’s history since 2016. With the largest cinema hall in Vienna and the huge screen, this location offers ideal conditions for a show-off of the creative masterminds. And by the way, visitors can enjoy the time-honored premises of the cinema, which shine in new splendor after an extensive restoration, and participate in numerous side events and workshops.
